Do I need to bring my own fishing gear or license?
Rascal Charters provides everything you need for Maui sportfishing. We provide all necessary rods, reels, tackle, and expert guidance! You do need to purchase a Non-resident recreational marine fishing license from Hawaii DLNR.
What types of fish can we expect to catch?
The target species of sportfish we’re guiding you to catch on Rascal Charters are Marlin, Ahi (yellowfin tuna), Ono (wahoo), and Mahi-Mahi (dorado). Occasionally during the right season, we might reel in some Snapper or Skipjack. We also might encounter a few other unique species found only when fishing Maui.
Are children welcome on board?
Children are absolutely welcome! We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly adventure, but request that kids are at least 5 years old to board Rascal Charters. We provide life jackets and sea safety equipment. Plus, our kid-friendly crew will help your young anglers learn the ropes!
Can I keep the fish we catch?
Generally, yes, depending on local regulations, you can keep your catch. Our crew can also assist with filleting and packaging your catch if desired.
What should I bring on the day of the charter?
We recommend “Fun in the Sun” essentials. That means sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, as well as snacks and favorite drinks. We provide snacks, drinks, and meals, but with a limited menu, it’s nice to bring some extra bites. We also recommend a camera or phone to capture the magic!
How do I handle seasickness if it occurs?
The best advice we have for seasickness is to prep before you leave the dock. If you’re prone to seasickness, consider some motion sickness medication beforehand. Another common cause of seasickness is lack of water. So, stay hydrated and get fresh air on deck while you get your sea legs!
What happens if the weather is bad?
The Captain will always be monitoring weather conditions for safety. If your Maui fishing tour is canceled because of weather, you can reschedule or receive a refund.
What is your cancellation policy?
We do not provide refunds within 7 days of departure time unless canceled by Rascal Charters. You must contact us by phone or email to cancel and confirm cancellation.
Can we customize our fishing trip?
Yes, our private charters are customized for your specific preferences! While our Maui fishing tour specializes in trolling, we offer live bait on request. The best advice is to let us know your preferences in advance. That way, we can make your deep-sea fishing adventure in Maui one to remember!

Yes! Light refreshments and snacks are available. We always emphasize staying properly hydrated in the sea. Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks!
