We target four types of game fish here in Hawaii: Marlin (including Pacific Blue, striped and spearfish/short-billed marlin), Ahi (yellowfin tuna), Ono (wahoo), and Mahi-Mahi (aka dolphin or dorado). Occasionally, we pick up species such as, Snapper, Skipjacks, and other incidental catches. We specialize in trolling, but can mix it up with live bait and other methods depending on the conditions. Any request for customization can be considered. Rascal is kid-friendly, recommending private charters for those with kids under 10. You will be in good hands with the Captain and Crew, as they will do all they can to give you an experience of a lifetime.

What others are saying about us
Any day on the water is a good day! The crew really worked hard to try and put us on fish. The switched lures, chummed for fish, and used their knowledge about the local area to try to put us on fish. I cannot day they did not try. Great crew! Great atmosphere! One fish caught for the whole boat but, hey the experience was great. They walk you through every step. Captain Kamal is great and Andy is amazing too. Thank you Rascal Charters for a great start to my vacation. Mahalo!
Great Fishing Trip
Captain Kamal and Deck Boss Andy were our crew on a beautiful Maui morning. We caught a small Tuna and a very nice Ono (Wahoo were I’m from) but the trip was amazing. Both guys worked their tails off to try to catch fish for us. Andy was awesome to hang with and was super helpful with everything during the day. Captain Kamal took us to a place that is often not fishable due to weather since we had such a nice day. We had our family on board who were not sure what to expect and not really into fishing and they all had a blast. My only regret was not booking a longer trip! Thanks guys for an awesome day.

My family and I had a great day on the water with Andy as the lead deckhand. Andy and Captain Joe worked hard to get us on the hook and we landed a couple with two nice bites as well. I really appreciate Andy’s focus on the customer as well as his knowledge and passion for working hard while being entertaining. I would recommend Andy to the anyone looking for a good time and chance at tight lines. Nice job Andy!
Sunday 6/30/2019 my wife and I jumped on a 6 hr shared charter with captain Joe and deck boss Andy. After a short introduction we left the dock right on time. We ended up trolling our past Molokini and up and down the south east coast of Maui, of course a bit off shore. When the day was done we had caught 5 Ono, and lost 2 bites. Everyone on the boat got a chance on the rod and it was a great day overall. Also wanted to give a shoutout to Andy and Joe, Joe put us on the fish and I think he even did a few more runs before heading in. Andy worked hard all day managing all 6 rods, sometimes with 2 hookups back to back, and also conversing with and educating the passengers on deck, he truly made for a great experience. Thanks guys.
Rascal Charters fishing trip
We had beautiful trip, Captain Kamal and Andy where great! The weather and seas just perfect.
Hook up three and boated two nice Onos. No one else that day caught, but these guys did it for us.
Thanks again for all your hard work. Andy is nonstop in the cockpit, with Captain K getting us on the fish 🎣. My brother in-law David and his son Nick where the fishermen that day. They caught their first Onos.
A hui hou kakou. ( until we meet again)

Phenomenal trip, boat and crew
Chartered the Rascal for 6 hour private outing and wasn’t disappointed! Captain K and Andy were phenomenal. My 12 year old son caught a great Ono which we made into poke and sashimi and grilled. Only caught one but all other boats were shut out. We will be back on the Rascal!

We just got back from our fishing trip with Kamal and Andy and although we were only able to bring in a little fish, the experience was fabulous. They made us fresh sashimi from the catch and they certainly worked hard to get us more. Professional and fun and we saw a ton of whales! Fabulous!

Great Day with a Great Crew
Took my two teenage kids (13 yr old daughter and 16 yr old son) and had blast. Shared charter with 3 other people and only 3 fish caught, but my daughter caught a good size Wahoo. The crew were super friendly and made every effort to get as many fish on as possible. Boat was very comfortable and well appointed. Highly recommend Rascal Charters.
Great crew and trip
The guys work their tails off to find fish. They also had to
Deal with a bunch of noobies who were sea sick for a good part of the trip. Oh well they were great nurses as well as fishing guides. In the end after all the work and searching they put us on the fish. We ended up with 9 Mahi Mahi and 1 wahoo. The crews friendliness and intensity for catching fish made for a perfect trip. We also learned a lot about the fish and wildlife in the area. Nobody can gaurantee fish but Kamal and Andy will do everythig they can to ensure you have a great trip.
We target four types of game fish here in Hawaii: Marlin (including Pacific Blue, striped and spearfish/shortbilled marlin), Ahi (yellowfin tuna), Ono (wahoo), and Mahi Mahi (dolphin fish). These can range in size from a small, 8 pound juvenile mahi mahi to an 800 lb. blue marlin.... or maybe bigger! Occasionally, we pick up various species of Snapper, Jacks, and other incidental catches.
WHAT TECHNIQUES TO YOU USE?
Most of our fish here in Hawaii are caught high speed trolling (8-9 knots). Depending on the fishing conditions, we also fish with live and dead bait (Or whatever it takes that day to make 'em bite!)
DO WE NEED A FISHING LICENSE?
Short answer: NO, you do not need a license to go sportfishing on Maui. Captain and crew are required to have a commercial fishing licence. You, as passengers, are covered under us.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FISH WE CATCH?
Part of your crews' incentive to work hard is the potential to make money from fish sales. We don't want to take that incentive away. However we always make sure to take care of our passengers first. For those passengers staying in a home or condominium with cooking facilities, we're more than happy to cut up enough fish for one or two awesome fish dinners. On shareboats, we'll cut up a portion of the day's catch for all passengers, regardless of who catches the fish. We've never had a complaint about our fish policy. Again, we take care of YOU first.
IS THIS A GOOD ACTIVITY FOR KIDS?
You need to have a lot of patience for sportfishing. Sometimes you hook up right off the bat and the day is one long-filled adventure, and other times you don't hook up at all. Patience is important, and many kids just don't have it. Just keep it in mind, every kid is different. For children under 10, we recommend a private charter.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
That depends a lot on when you're coming. Over Christmas, New Years, Spring Break, and around Halloween, when the Lahaina Jackpot tournament is underway, we often get booked out months in advance. Basically, you want to make your reservation as early as possible. You don't have to PAY in advance (unless you want to of course!) you simply need to reserve the space.
HOW DO WE RESERVE A CHARTER?
If you want to reserve space online, go to our booking section, and fill out the necessary information. Your card is not charged until the day of the charter, and you can pay with a different card or cash if you prefer on that day.
Should you need to cancel your charter, the policy is as follows: Share boat trip, please contact us outside 36 hours from the time of departure. Private charters, please contact us 72 hours in advance. Cancelling within these times will result in our charging the full amount to the card number you gave us when you made the reservation.
WHAT ABOUT BOTTOM FISHING / CASTING?
We do not offer bottom fishing or spin casting on shareboat charters.
If you're interested in a private, custom charter, contact us and we'll see if we can arrange something special.
