We target four types of game fish here in Hawaii: Marlin (including Pacific Blue, striped and spearfish/short-billed marlin), Ahi (yellowfin tuna), Ono (wahoo), and Mahi-Mahi (aka dolphin or dorado). Occasionally, we pick up species such as, Snapper, Skipjacks, and other incidental catches. We specialize in trolling, but can mix it up with live bait and other methods depending on the conditions.
Any request for customization can be considered. Rascal is kid-friendly, recommending private charters for those with kids under 10. You will be in good hands with the Captain and Crew, as they will do all they can to give you an experience of a lifetime.

What others are saying about us
Great crew and trip
The guys work their tails off to find fish. They also had to
Deal with a bunch of noobies who were sea sick for a good part of the trip. Oh well they were great nurses as well as fishing guides. In the end after all the work and searching they put us on the fish. We ended up with 9 Mahi Mahi and 1 wahoo. The crews friendliness and intensity for catching fish made for a perfect trip. We also learned a lot about the fish and wildlife in the area. Nobody can gaurantee fish but Kamal and Andy will do everythig they can to ensure you have a great trip.
Amazing charter and crew! Plus a 350lb marlin!! Trip of a lifetime!
My family (three couples) booked a 6h private charter with the Rascal, and had the absolute best time! Kamal and Andy were welcoming and friendly, were extremely knowledgeable of fishing and the local waters, and didn’t hesitate to answer our million questions about why the lines were set up how they were, how they chose which lures to use, and what to look for in the best fishing waters.
We had a bite early on, but the lure didn’t set. We were happy just cruising around, and would have loved our time anyways, but about 3.5 hours in, we had FISH ON! And Kamal and Andy immediately sprung into action. They kept us completely on task and after about a 30 minute chase and fight, Andy and Kamal pulled a 350lb Blue Marlin on board! I mean, what more could you possibly want?? They filleted some for us to cook at the condo too! 10/10 would recommend the Rascal and Kamal and Andy to everyone and anyone who wants to go fishing in Maui, especially south down in Kihei/Wailea/Makena.

Where Lifetime Memories are Made
An amazing 8 hour fishing excursion. My 10 year old son reeled in this spectacular Short Nose Spearhead along with some tuna. A once in a lifetime experience with my son with a great crew!
Father Son Fishing Trip in Paradise
My son Banger and I enjoyed an amazing fishing experience in which we caught a 50″ MAHI MAHI, a Yellow Fin Tuna and a 300 pound Blue Marlin. Seeing the excitement on my sons face while pulling in each catch was enough to make me want to come back again. Not to mention how excited I was throughout the whole ordeal! The staff assisting us on the boat were both highly skilled fishermen and very energetic pleasant people who made our experience on the water one that I will not soon forget.
My son and I booked with Rascal Charters for the half day deep sea. The crew was excellent as was the boat and facilities. If we had came back with nothing it would have been worth the price we paid compared to other fishing trips I’ve paid on in the past. Deck hand “Kamal” is very informative and practically re-schooled my seventeen year old son on the ins and outs of setting the hook and reeling em in. End result was we landed a 120 lb yellow fin after being out a couple hours. Took my son about an hour to get it in then the hook literally dropped out of the mouth of the fish when it hit the deck. Now that’s good coaching ! Book with these guys and you’ll have a great experience regardless. Thanks also to the owner Kevin for being very informative.
Great crew and boat!
Went fishing with Capt Kamal and Capt Joe. I’ve been on many charters and fished a lot of different places. I’ve never seen two harder working guys than Capt Kamal and Capt Joe. Caught a nice ono and had a billfish knocking down baits but couldn’t get it to eat. The fish were less than cooperative but that’s why it’s fishing and not called catching. Day flew by too fast and if they weren’t already booked for the rest of our stay, I would’ve signed up for another round before I got off the boat. Thanks again Capt Joe and Capt Kamal for a very fun day on the water.
We target four types of game fish here in Hawaii: Marlin (including Pacific Blue, striped and spearfish/shortbilled marlin), Ahi (yellowfin tuna), Ono (wahoo), and Mahi Mahi (dolphin fish). These can range in size from a small, 8 pound juvenile mahi mahi to an 800 lb. blue marlin.... or maybe bigger! Occasionally, we pick up various species of Snapper, Jacks, and other incidental catches.
WHAT TECHNIQUES TO YOU USE?
Most of our fish here in Hawaii are caught high speed trolling (8-9 knots). Depending on the fishing conditions, we also fish with live and dead bait (Or whatever it takes that day to make 'em bite!)
DO WE NEED A FISHING LICENSE?
Short answer: NO, you do not need a license to go sportfishing on Maui. Captain and crew are required to have a commercial fishing licence. You, as passengers, are covered under us.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FISH WE CATCH?
Part of your crews' incentive to work hard is the potential to make money from fish sales. We don't want to take that incentive away. However we always make sure to take care of our passengers first. For those passengers staying in a home or condominium with cooking facilities, we're more than happy to cut up enough fish for one or two awesome fish dinners. On shareboats, we'll cut up a portion of the day's catch for all passengers, regardless of who catches the fish. We've never had a complaint about our fish policy. Again, we take care of YOU first.
IS THIS A GOOD ACTIVITY FOR KIDS?
You need to have a lot of patience for sportfishing. Sometimes you hook up right off the bat and the day is one long-filled adventure, and other times you don't hook up at all. Patience is important, and many kids just don't have it. Just keep it in mind, every kid is different. For children under 10, we recommend a private charter.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
That depends a lot on when you're coming. Over Christmas, New Years, Spring Break, and around Halloween, when the Lahaina Jackpot tournament is underway, we often get booked out months in advance. Basically, you want to make your reservation as early as possible. You don't have to PAY in advance (unless you want to of course!) you simply need to reserve the space.
HOW DO WE RESERVE A CHARTER?
If you want to reserve space online, go to our contact page, and fill out the necessary information. We'll then phone you (or you can phone us) for a credit card number to hold the date and time. Your card is not charged until the day of the charter, and you can pay with a different card or cash if you prefer on that day.
Should you need to cancel your charter, the policy is as follows: Share boat trip, please contact us outside 36 hours from the time of departure. Private charters, please contact us 72 hours in advance. Cancelling within these times will result in our charging the full amount to the card number you gave us when you made the reservation.
WHAT ABOUT BOTTOM FISHING / CASTING?
We do not offer bottom fishing or spin casting on shareboat charters.
If you're interested in a private, custom charter, contact us and we'll see if we can arrange something special.
